Network Management and Engineering

3Di is always coming up with new methods for enhancing the already high quality networks that it uses to provide its satellite services. In addition to consistent monitoring of all networks by the 3Di NOC, 3Di utilizes its highly-skilled network engineers to explore new technologies and review current configurations in search of constant optimization.

With the satellite world constantly changing, it is essential to find capacity for our customers. 3Di works with the best satellite providers to design our satellite networks, as well working with the best of breed teleports as hosts of 3Di’s network management equipment. Using Star networks, MESH networks, private networks, shared networks, and providing QoS management, 3Di is able to deliver low contention ratios and a high quality of QoS.

Network Operations Center (NOC)
3Di Technologies’ primary global Network Operations Center (NOC) is located at 3Di’s headquarters, and provides 24/7/365 monitoring of all 3Di networks and customers located around the world. Technical issues can be resolved in a number of ways, to include: 1) Telephonic support; 2) Remote access to update software, modify LAN configurations, block ‘rogue’ Users and ‘infected’ machines on the LAN; and 3) Onsite technical support. 3Di Technologies runs a second NOC at our Bagram Air Field operations center.

NOC and TAC Support
3Di’s NOC provides Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for the networks. 24/7 monitoring of 3Di networks ensure that all issues are immediately resolved or escalated.

NOC Resources
3Di Technologies uses best practices and highly skilled IT, IP, and RF resources to monitor, tune, and manage our world-wide network while providing unmatched customer service. All NOC personnel are cleared at a minimum of U.S. DoD SECRET and speak English as their native language. Additionally, our NOC personnel have previously deployed to the AOR providing frontline support to our customers and uniquely qualified to solve most issues associated with the network.

Network Management
3Di Technologies satellite networks use iDirect’s iMonitor VNO network management tool, device monitoring with SolarWinds, which enables 3Di Technologies personnel to view real-time and historical performance of the Network, including the following:

  • The health status of any remote with details including modem temperature, modem uptime, LAN port status, transmit power
  • Real-time graphical display of In-Route time plan Slot Allocation
  • Network Probe for in-depth, packet-level analysis
  • Detailed bandwidth usage graphs, per remote, per network and/or per protocol
  • Detailed graphs of bandwidth usage and other network performance metrics support engineering activities such as trend analysis, traffic engineering and network planning
